Distracted by the World, Anchored in Eternity
Life is full of distractions…
Personal ones ~ like finally getting your air conditioning fixed in your truck… only to hear a hissing pop the next day and realize the Freon line blew off 🥴 (Yes, that actually happened ~ bless my husband’s heart. He’s amazing and fixes what he can, but living on a tight budget means things like that are stressful.)
Community distractions ~ disagreements online that pull people apart, and in today’s social media world, it all happens out loud and in front of everybody.
Political distractions ~ where we become so consumed with the latest debates and headlines, we lose sight of the bigger picture.
And yet… The biggest picture is often about the smallest thing:
The soul. The individual. The person in front of us.
Every soul will spend eternity somewhere. And sharing how someone can know they’ll spend it in Heaven ~ that’s the most important thing we could ever do.
We get so wrapped up in the urgent, the loud, the emotional ~ that we forget to simply tell someone:
✨ Jesus loves you. ✨ Jesus died for you. ✨ And He can save you.
And let’s be honest ~ it’s hard to argue with someone and then turn around and say, “Oh, and by the way… Jesus loves you.” 😬
That doesn’t mean we stop standing for truth. We should. But we need to do it from an eternity-minded heart. Not a distracted, emotionally-drained one.
💛 Why does this matter for our mental health?
Because when we keep our eyes on eternity, it puts today’s chaos in its place. It doesn’t make life easy, but it does quiet the storm inside our hearts.
Choosing to focus on Christ and eternal things protects our peace. It strengthens our minds and reminds us:
We weren’t created to carry the weight of this broken world. We were created to walk through it… with grace. And to invite others along the way.
Don’t let the distractions steal your peace.
This world isn’t our home. We’re just passing through… and trying to bring as many with us as we can.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 (KJV)
With love and grace, Meagan Phillips
